Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe – EFFE is a preparatory action initiated by the European Festivals Association (EFA), supported by the European Commission and Parliament. EFFE brings the arts to the attention of audiences through a searchable database that serves all sorts of interactions and initiatives recognizing the work of Europe’s diverse arts festivals landscape. Europe is in constant development and change. EFFE’s strength is in its diversity; its offer to have a discussion about the possibilities to give the arts more space within our societies.
The EFFE Label is Europe’s quality stamp for remarkable arts festivals attributed for their work in the field of the arts, community involvement and international openness.
The festival has been fostering music and its quality through various activities: choosing a cross cut programme of all music genre; including concerts of artists of international and national level, next to local music excellences; introducing less known music genres, both national and international; promoting young standing out musicians; promoting intercultural actions through art-music expression; organizing experimental concerts in endorsing architectural locations; linking concerts to seminars, workshops and meetings; hosting concerts in the town historical and architectural centre together with art performances.
The festival significance and its organizational aspect created a positive synergy with the art-music world and therefore many artists refer to the festival with their productions and proposals.
The festival subsists on wide connections and collaborations: has contacts with relevant persons of the Italian music reality, in particular with M.E.I.-Meeting Etichette Indipendenti (Independent Labels Meeting), with ANBIMA-Associazione Nazionale Bande Italiane Musicali Autonome (Italian National Association Autonomous Music Bands), with the folk music festival “Musica nelle Aie” (Music in the farmyard), and with the regional folk music network “Emilia-Romagna in Ballo” (Dancing Emilia-Romagna). At local level it has an historic collaboration with the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale “Incontri col Maestro” (International Piano Academy “Incontri col Maestro”) and with the Emilia Romagna Festival.
The festival is is supported by Emilia-Romagna Region, it has been recognised by the Bologna City Area. The Festival applied for recognition by MIBAC- Ministero dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali e del Turismo of the Italian government.
In every edition the festival proposes new and different performances. In particular in 2019 for the twenty-four year anniversary, beyond the event traditional format, the Festival will host again the “sunrise concert” in a public park of the city which had a very big success in the past editions. In 2019 the Festival will last more days that in the past editions, for 15 days in total. In addition some events and concerts will be dedicated to Leonardo Da Vinci, in the 500 year anniversary of his death.
